Gelli printing and hand lettering – a match made for me. While these are both digital versions – hand lettering done first, and rendered in Photoshop and the gelli is a scan – I can now do the ‘real’ thing with confidence. I really love this print and with #gellis you can never get the same result twice. I did also try in in the center and it didn’t do anything for me…so scan and audition – and then decide. Hope you have a wonderful sweetie day.

Sunday Fun-Days
I’ve been teaching myself to digitize my artwork. This is a combination of my hand lettering and an abstract Watercolor flower. I decided that it might be fun to create a new way to share artwork…. so….
Introducing a new art game – kinda like Cards Against Humanity except you pick the answers from your life instead of a pile of cards (and you decide whether or not it’s humane…)
To play, simply put your choice of fill in the blanks in the comment section or print the piece, add your words and share (#whimsyvillefun) or post on Whimsyville’s Facebook Page under today’s post (Jan. 24, 2016) . Best original answer wins a ‘digital’ version to print out …. tell me what you are thinking, good or bad….
Have a great week – Love, Ann
Doodle Diversions…
So, I took another class on-line called Doodle Flowers from Joanne Sharpe. What I love about taking her classes is that it draws me into a new place with my own artwork. So while the class was about flowers, these are some of my results… flowers ? um I have only done one or two..
I imagine the ‘next’ generation of this series will include some collaged element(s)….
These originals are 11x 14 or 14 x 11 and are $125.00 , unframed if you are so inclined, and as usual I can do your animals. The final one is of a dear friend’s two dogs !

Back to work….
Vacation is usually a time to relax and let go. For us, it was a time to repair- and I don’t mean our bodies- I mean water pump for the well $900; sailboat bridle $55.00; porch furniture with pretty pillows $ 940 (because it was on sale and because the 3 pound kitty fell through the seat) . At any rate I continued to enjoy my art classes with Joanne Sharpe even though I had to watch them on the iPhone – and technically couldn’t see them it was comforting to listen to hear instructions.
At the end if the two weeks of work , I had managed to fit in this:
A little marker, a little water color and some acrylic paint too. Who knew work could generate such fun results.
And now , back to the vacation laundry pile.
Memorial Fish
A few weeks ago I was watching a movie on the girlie channel about a girl living in Wally-mart who gave birth to a baby named Americus. I think this sounds more like a species of fish than a name for a child, and so in a weird-sort-of-movie-inspires-art kind of way, the “Memorial Fish” was born. There is also this boring book that was given to us by my husbands brother, the “First Fish” – not quite a presidential book, but in pursuit of spring spawning, the fish in the book (a shad) goes on a trip. Seems to be a lot of fish in politics…. just saying.
May your life and adventures inspire creativity in your life – especially during the long weekend. Love – Ann
You are my inspiration
Every once in a while I will get addicted to another artist’s work. At first I stare, then I try to do it justice by imitation (something some art teacher taught me in school), and then I try to adapt the learning to my own style. If you take classes in a certain style or technique, it eventually makes its appearance in your own work. As one of my current teachers says ‘ practice, practice, practice’ …(like I didn’t hear that enough growing up with piano lessons once a week for what felt like eternity).
This weeks artwork is

Learning new things
There is this awesome online series of lettering classes taught by Joanne Sharpe. The best thing about them is she says “here is a lettering idea now go do your own thing.” Here are a couple of homework assignments-
The Simple Life – with an occasional bump
For 2013, I chose the Simple for my one little word. The ink sketch was done before I chose the word, but it made perfect sense. It is also a little more ‘elegant’ than my usual Whimsyville-istic style, but I like it just the same. The “m” has extra bumps – a lot like life sometimes.
What’s your word for 2013 ?

Whimsical Color Garden…
